On Thursday, community leaders committed to ensure that order is sustained throughout, whilst engagements continue to bring the matters that led to the violent protests, to finality. More than 30 people who were arrested since the weekend, were released on R500 bail each on Thursday after appearing at the Mogwase magistrate court. We will not allow a situation where the community has no say in profit made from the land of their forefathers, get managed elsewhere. As such, we have requested that the articles of association of all the investment companies be reviewed, to allow members of the community to be given an opportunity to elect board members’’, said MEC Maine.
