HARTSWATER police are investigating a culpable homicide after an accident occurred on Saturday, at approximately 21:00, police said.
Northern Cape police spokesperson, Lieutenant Sergio Kock said the alleged head on collision involving a Polo Vivo and a Toyota Avanza took place approximately 10km outside Hartswater.
“The Polo Vivo was traveling with four male occupants between the ages of 25 and 33 year-old respectively. The vehicle caught fire after the collision and three of the occupants died, while one male is still in a critical condition in Kimberley Hospital” Kock said.
The driver of the Toyota Avanza was traveling alone and he only sustained minor injuries.
He said the occupants of the Polo Vivo were all from the Dryharts village in North West Province therefore their names cannot be released as their next of kin still has to conduct a formal identification process.
