Suspended South African Airways (SAA) CEO Monwabise Kalawe has resigned with immediate effect.

Kalawe was suspended last year pending the finalisation of an investigation into serious allegations of misconduct.

The process was overseen by an independent external chairperson, Advocate Nazeem Cassim.
