Premier Mahumapelo launches Mahikeng/Lehurutshe Liberation Route

The Village of Lobatla – Ramotshere Moiloa Municipality ( Zeerust) will this weekend be abuzz of Liberation Struggle heroes and heroines. Lobatla will be the meeting place remembrance of the experiences as a passage to exile by the liberation heroes and heroines as Premier of the Bokone Bophirima Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo will launch the Mahikeng/Lehurutshe Liberation Route.

The launch will also afford those who will attend first hand information of what really happened by those who experienced the process and role the route played in assisting cadres of the liberation movements into exile.

This will also detail the role the people of Bokone Bophirima contributed to the struggle against the apartheid rule in our country.

Though not often mentioned in the story of the struggle, people of Mahikeng and Lehurutshe played a critical and important role in assisting freedom fighters in their quests  to cross over into Exile.

“It must also be mentioned that the people of Mahikeng and Ramotshere Moiloa including the Dikgosi who lead from the front liberated this country immensely in their own right with some losing their lives in the process.

“The Programme will include a Church service, A march against Xenophobia. This will be within the Provincial Program of Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal (RHR) as a commitment of government to promote social cohesion nation building and moral regeneration in our Province. A media launch to unpack the programme will be chaired by the Premier” departmental spokesperson, Shirley Montsho said.

Meanwhile, on Saturday 25 April 2015 at 10h00, Mayor of Ramotshere Moiloa Cllr. Africa Thale will lead a March against Xenophobia at Zeerust.

The meeting place is at the offices of Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality where all information with regards the march will be detailed.
