Rustenburg- A three day music extravaganza in Mogwase was not just entertainment but a golden opportunity for residents of 109 villages of Moses Kotane Local Municipality. Just two weeks after the political icon, Moses Kotane was reburied at his home village of Phella, thousands of residents converged at Mogwase stadium during the Easter weekend to support and promote local initiatives to honor Kotane.
Renowned artists like Dr Malinga, Candy Tsa Mandebele, KB Motsilenyane, Busiswa, Badimo Jazz Band, Clerence The Gospel Singer (CTGS) and many more artists entertained the crowd and had an opportunity to dine and wine with more than 5000 children from local villages.
Genplay Play Broadcast Media and Moses Kotane Foundation are embarking on a yearlong support of the 109 villages of the municipality named after Kotane.
They will uplift and promote local artists. Candy adopted two 10-year-olds local kids, Onalenna Serongwane and (10) Katlego Maqubu (10), she will mentor them until they become national stars.
Moses Kotane Local Municipality also bought more than 10 stalls for local entrepreneurs. “The reason was to boost and support local SMMEs in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality. The event was well attended and supported. Now we have agreed with artists like Dr Malinga and Candy to unearth talent in our villages. Moses Kotane remains brought joy and happiness in our villages,” said Kefilwe Motloba, event organizer.
