TAUNG- Greater Taung Municipal Mayor Kaone Lobelo was admitted in hospital after he felt unwell.
Even though the Acting Mayor, councillor Oageng Seleke couldn’t shed more light on what’s bothering Lobelo, he confirmed that mayor Lobelo is currently at his house in Johannesburg, Gauteng where he is recovering.

“We can confirm that the mayor isn’t well, but I spoke with him a day before (Wednesday) and he is recovering well at his house in Johannesburg. We wish him speed recovery and we cannot tell what was nagging him, but maybe it might be fatigue because you know he is a busy man. His workload might be what caused fatigue and we wish him speed recovery” Seleke outlines.

Seleke said this during South African National Military Veterans Association (SANMVA) meeting that was held at Taung library on Thursday.

Double celebration for the residents of Ventersdorp is imminent

Community meeting in Boikhutsong 005

Ventersdorp – The residents of Ventersdorp local municipality will not only rebury their liberation struggle stalwart and international icon, John Beaver Marks at the weekend in Tshing township, but they are also set to benefit from the resuscitation of the housing project of just over R84 million for 415 units in at least four villages and the project is to start as early as next week.

The housing project follows the completion of the dolomite stability investigations (or stability and geotechnical studies) for the completion of the remaining 415 of the original 1000 housing units in Welgevonden, Goedgevonden, Boikhutsong and Tsetse villages. The geotechnical report has been able to shed light as to where exactly development can take place in the villages.

The initial allocation for Ventersdorp was 1000 units and only 585 units could be built in the four villages, i.e. Welgevonden, Goedgevonden, Boikhutsong and Boikhutso as they had been cleared by the investigations on the extent of the dolomite. This housing project (415 units) will also see structural repairs done to other houses that were part of the initial 1000 units allocation.

Town planning designs had to be done such that they accommodated the requirements for development for each stability zone. Residential stands also had to be designed and planned according to the densities and sizes prescribed by the Council for Geoscience and National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC).

The Department has also allocated 437 subsidies in Tshing Extension 8. This project forms part of land in-fills where sites were already serviced and inhabitants were living in shacks. Construction is underway in the above project.

MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements, Collen Maine in Bokone Bophirima broke the news to the residents who packed a community hall in Boikhutsong community hall on Tuesday. “We are pleased to announce that the much awaited study has been completed and we can now proceed to complete the housing project. The resuscitation of the project could have not come at a better time. As the country will be re-burying and celebrating the life of J.B Marks here in Ventersdorp, residents in adjacent villages will also reap the fruits of our democracy their own hero”, said MEC Maine.

BY OBAKENG MAJE
THE South African National Military Veterans Association (SANMVA) visited Taung on Thursday to register former soldiers into their database.

The gathering took place at Taung library in Extension 6 and people came out in numbers to hear what does the organization has in place for the country’s veterans.

However those who dominated were either spouses or beneficiaries as most of the participants are no more especially those who took part in World War I and II.

Some of the delegates who attended the meeting were SANMVA Provincial Executive Committee member Ikanyeng Motlhaping and Greater Taung Acting Municipal Mayor, Oageng Seleke.

According to Ikanyeng Motlhaping, SANMVA is structured at National, Provincial and Regional levels to be able to act effectively in addressing all military veterans’ issues.

“SANMVA has align itself with World Veterans Organizations that are supportive of promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, gender, language or religion and promote the full integration of military veterans in their communities” Motlhaping said.

He said they have realized that many former soldiers are not registered in their database so they need to find them.

“We want to find those former soldiers as the government has benefits for them. The government offers medical cards for former soldiers, bursaries to their children and also building houses for them, so one cannot be helped if not registered with SANMVA” he said.

He encourages people to inform those who were once soldiers to come forward to be registered.

Lilly Mathebula(54) who is a widow after her husband Mothusi Ludrick Mathebula, who was a member of SANDF passed on back in 2008, said she is very grateful because the government see it fit to help those who helped in fighting for freedom.

“We can breathe sigh of relief because most of former soldiers some living in poverty and other passed away leaving their families with absolutely nothing to fend themselves, but now the government rectify that.

Manopole Morapedi who is a former soldier said the decision took by government to give benefits to its former fighters stress relieving because some of former soldiers are drown in poverty.

“We can finally breathe a sigh of relief after government took the decision to make sure the former government officials get what is due to them. Our children will also benefit from our hard work” Morapedi said.

SANMVA also advised its members to form co-operatives which will be funded by government and help members to put food on the table.

Stripped nude on Twitter

It is said the best relationships are when a couple can talk like best friends, play like children, and protect each other like brother and sister. But what happens when it all falls down and your partner is in possession of nude pictures of you?

Law student Pulane Lenkoe – the girlfriend of Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo – learnt this the hard way when an ex-boyfriend posted pictures of her nude online.

A photo search of “Pulane” on Twitter will tell you exactly why the 31-year-old has garnered more than 11000 new followers, in just over 72 hours, since the picture was leaked.

Even rapper Cassper Nyovest and DJ Sbu are fans. DJ Black Coffee was apparently forced to unfollow her once a Twitter user alerted his pregnant wife, Rockville actress Mbali Mlotshwa, of his virtual dalliances.

Lenkoe said yesterday: “I’m literally shaking right now.

“I don’t want to deal with this. I just want it to go away. I wish I could just wake up and somebody tells me it’s just a dream.

“I don’t want all of this attention. Good Friday [is approaching], my goodness. I’m going to church. I don’t want people looking at me like I’m some whore.”

Lenkoe said Ntshumayelo advised her to “let it go” – but what options besides this are open to her and others?

Social media law expert Emma Sadleir said Lenkoe could sue her ex for infringement of privacy, lay a charge of crimen injuria, or even get a protection order under the Protection from Harassment Act.

But Sadleir added: “Often victims land up doing nothing because whatever you do means that more people land up finding out.”

Just over a week ago, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo admitted the microblogging site “sucked” at dealing with abuse on the platform. Twitter then introduced new rules to combat revenge porn – banning the posting of “intimate photos or videos that were taken or distributed without the subject’s consent”.

The complaints would be processed daily by its Trust and Safety team.

Lenkoe’s name and picture has been trending on Twitter for three days.

Several users commented about the post, including comedian @Trevornoah, who said: “So Pulane starts trending and then Kanye tweets nudes of Kim? Why can’t we just let other children shine?”

Lenkoe said: “People who have been following me [prior to this saga] know that I wouldn’t even put a picture of me in lingerie. That’s my punani for the world to see, why would I do that? I’m not that girl.”

“I can confirm that…yes we received those allegations that our Acting Director at Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Office, Mr Ogopoleng Vaaltyn has a relationship with one of our junior staff and we also heard that some men came here under false pretext looking for him.
