THE Greater Taung Municipality opened a Thusong Centre at Kokomeng village, near Taung on Tuesday. Various departments of government like Sassa, Labour, Seda and Home Affairs were part of the opening ceremony.

Municipal Councillor, Motseothata Mabe who is also Executive Committee for Community Social Service within the municipality said the Thusong Centre will help the community to access government service in their area.

“Thusong Centre will bring the service to the community and improve service delivery. This will help the government to convey the message to the community” Mabe said.

Kokomeng Thusong Centre afford opportunity to unite against poverty and starvation which was launched at a glittering function held in Kokomeng village.

Some of community members were glad and say the Thusong Centre will intend to empower them in fighting poverty and unemployment and eventually close the gap between those who are privileged and less privileged.

“We are very grateful and want to see local young people participating in the economy of the country and believe this will help them as organizations like Seda and others will be accessible to them” Martha Maroke adds.

Another resident, Flora Mohale from Molelema village which is in neighborhood said the centre will come in handy as Taung CBD is too far for them.

“It is heart-breaking to observe our young people depending on hand outs and social grants. We hope the centre will turn that around and open doors for them through business and skill development” Mohale said.

Mabe concluded by saying the center will help the youth and unemployment as all government services will be nearer to them.

“We always encourage the youth to open their own businesses and come to government to request more training for skill development. We cannot sit on our laurels and watch while our young fellows swim in poverty and unemployment” he said.

Kokomeng village chief said they welcome the Thusong Centre and believes it will benefit the community.

MEC Molapisi condemns malicious damage to public and private property

Brits- Community Safety and Transport Management Gaoage Molapisi condemns malicious damage to public and private property during service delivery protests saying the behavior is unacceptable and those involved will be dealt with harshly.

“This is tantamount to criminality and our justice system must not take these acts lightly and give criminal free bails. South Africa is a democratic State where people have the rights to peacefully protest”, said MEC Molapisi.

MEC Molapisi’s warning follows recent protests where protesters allegedly torched the Jerico Tribal Authority office and the Councilor’s house.

“Public safety is our responsibility as the department and we are not going to allow violent actions and damage to public and private property. Those involved in these criminal activities would be arrested and we are definitely going to oppose bail for those arrested.” I’m sure that whatever the people are burning down it will be their responsibility to build it up. We are moving forward as government with development and not backwards were other people wants us to go.

“We are going to work 24hours in ensuring that our communities and properties are safe and further ensure that peace and stability is maintained in the province,” said Molapisi.

The MEC further appealed to the general public to desist from engaging in unlawful act but rather assist police to deal with this increasing lawlessness and criminal activities.

BY OBAKENG MAJE
Hip hop music is a music genre consisting of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted.

It developed as part of hip hop culture, a subculture defined by four key stylistic elements: MCing/rapping, DJing/scratching, break dancing, and graffiti writing.

Our crew took time to speak to one of the finest hip hop artists ever came out of North West, no one other than Trokid Mashala….so setback and relax as Trokid let you into his world.

A 25 year-old hip hop artist said hip hop to him is a way of life and belief that with hardwork and perseverance, nothing is impossible.

“I started to develop interest in hip hop at my tender age and back in 2005 I started to take my music career serious” Trokid said.

Trust Eddie Galeboe was born in Gauteng and bred in Taung even though his father is a Zimbabwean.

“I released a much-anticipated single called Get Down back in 2012, but my turning point was my single called Mashala Ke Mang which is still on high rotation in community radio stations like Vaaltar FM and other national radio stations” Trokid said.

Trokid said all indications are that his decade-long journey to find his niche in the local music industry is finally starting to bear fruit.

“I highly-appreciates the love and support I receive from my supporters, family and all artists I worked with. Let’s keep it going as life is a journey, not a destiny” Trokid said.

A charismatic motswako artist from Mokassa 2 in Taung said his music is a metaphor that reflects his personal journey through challenging times.

“My music communicate message of hope and inspiration to those following in my footsteps. I am a very loyal, kind, caring and religious soul so music speaks to me. If we could all play our part in the world, we can have a better society” he said.

Galeboe who is increasing garnering popularity amongst his peers in music said he would like to work with different artists in the future.  He is working on his External Play consists of 18 tracks called Stoff Sa Mashala that will be released in no time.

“I’ve released a music video for my single track called Mashala Ke Mang and now working on my External Play that would be released soon. And I would like to work with various artists in the future” Trokid said.

The hyper-active artist worked with producers and artists like OB, Gee-Cliff, Dr Dogg, Zebar, Qausure, Grayshadow and the list is endless.
