Man killed in Brits

Johannesburg – No arrest has been made in connection with the murder of an elderly man in Ifafi, Hartbeespoort Dam near Brits, North West police said on Wednesday.

“No one has been arrested at the moment and investigation continues,” said Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone.

He said a 75-year-old man was killed on Sunday night at his house in Ifafi.

“It is alleged the suspect hit a 75-year-old man with a shovel and [the man] was certified dead on the scene. The suspect allegedly went away with [a] television, two cellphones, tablet, and wedding ring.”

Mayor in court for assault

North West – The mayor of Kgetlengrivier local municipality, Kim Medupe, appeared in court on a charge of assault, North West police said on Wednesday.

She appeared in the Koster Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where the case was postponed to March 12, Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.

Medupe, 39, allegedly assaulted a 33-year-old woman in Reagile on Saturday.

“It is alleged that the complainant was forcefully bundled into the accused’s car and taken to Wysfontein farm where she was assaulted.”

Medupe appeared alongside her alleged accomplice Dinah Moema, 36.

“The motive for the alleged assault will be part of evidence presented in court,” Mokgwabone said.

The two were released on a warning.

The Sowetan reported on Tuesday that Medupe allegedly assaulted Nthibang Tlhong, 33, cut her clothes off and left her naked in a veld on Saturday, after accusing her of having an affair with her husband.

Tshwane mayor condemns police shooting

Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa has condemned the wounding of two metro police officers at Bronkhospruit, east of Pretoria. Ramokgopa visited the officers at a private hospital in Pretoria on Wednesday. Thejane’s murder accused remanded in custody

TAUNG- A 22 year-old man appeared at Taung Magistrate Court on Wednesday after he was arrested for murder. Serame Lepedi who resides in Buxton village, near Taung was arrested two months ago after he was implicated in a murder case of Ephraim Moipating Thejane.

Thejane was killed after he was kidnapped at his home in Depot village. He was kidnapped along with his girlfriend after two men pounced on them.

North West police said two men allegedly forced Thejane and his girlfriend into his bakkie and fled.

The two suspects shot and killed Thejane at Dryharts village and raped his girlfriend afterwards.

According to information, Thejane’s partially decomposed body was found floating at Matolong river. Police followed a tip-off and that led to Lepedi’s arrest.

Police allegedly tried to arrested his accomplice, Phenyo Phologolo but he tried to stab one of police officials with a knife after being cornered at his house in Taung Extension 6.

They shot him dead and his accomplice, Lepedi appeared at Taung Magistrate Court and the case was postponed until Monday after he requested a legal aid assistance.

Police investigation continues.

Two granted bail of R1000 each after rape in Taung

TAUNG- Two suspects appeared at Taung Magistrate Court after they were arrested a week ago at Dj Nation’s Annual Bash, near Taung.

According to police, Phemelo Goiwakae,20, and Kgosiemang Ephraim Sereo,22, were arrested on the 28th December at Taung Coverground.

The pair were arrested by security guards after they allegedly raped a woman. They were handed over to the police and charged with rape.

Goiwakae and Sereo appeared briefly appeared before magistrate on Tuesday and were granted bail of R1000 each.

The case was postponed until 09th of March 2015 and police investigation continues.

Taung murder case suspect to appear before court


A 22 year-old man is expected to appear before Taung Magistrate Court on Wednesday in connection of murder.

Serame Lepedi,22, was subsequently arrested two months ago after being implicated in Ephraim Moipating Thejane murder.

Thejane who was a manager at one of the biggest retail stores at Taung Mall, was allegedly kidnapped and killed by two suspects at his home in Depot village near Taung.

North West police said Thejane was kidnapped along with his girlfriend who was raped at Dryharts village.

He was shot dead and his body was thrown at Matolong river.

His partially decomposed body was found at the river after three days of searching.

Lepedi’s accomplice, Phenyo Phologolo was shot dead by police after he was cornered at his house in Taung Extension.

According to information, Phologolo apparently tried to stab one of police officials with a knife.

He was shot dead by police and Thejane’s belongings were found in his possession.

Lepedi is facing kidnapping, rape and murder.
