Speedster trapped twice, arrested


Johannesburg – A man stopped and fined R800 for speeding on the East Rand was arrested moments later when he began speeding again, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Sunday.

A man in a white VW Polo hatchback was stopped on the R23 Heidelberg Road in Brakpan for going 104km/h in an 80km/h zone, Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng said in a statement.

After he was given an R800 fine, he sped off, wheels spinning, and was clocked doing 117km/h. Traffic police chased him and, once they had cornered him, arrested him.

He was one of 15 people arrested and charged with reckless or negligent driving on Sunday morning, and would appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court soon.

Oscar’s father arrives first to visit


Johannesburg – Oscar Pistorius’s father, Henke, was one of the first visitors at Pretoria’s Kgosi Mampuru II prison on Saturday morning to visit his son, City Press reports.

Henke Pistorius parked his silver Toyota Prado under a tree in the prison’s parking lot, near the main entrance, before 07:30.

Oscar’s R17.5m legal headache


Johannesburg – Oscar Pistorius has racked up lawyers’ bills amounting to R17.5m – and he cannot pay them, City Press reports.

The athlete, sentenced to five years in jail on Tuesday for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, is broke and still owes his lawyers in the region of R10m.

A man hangs self in Cokonyane, near Taung

Taung- North West police are investigating a case of inquest after a man found hanged on Sunday morning in Cokonyane village, near Taung.

According to reports, Botende Moteme allegedly hanged himself after an argument with his family members.

Even though the information amid Moteme’s death is sketchy, our mole said he was allegedly given money to buy a cow by his family, but spent it instead.

The argument led him to take his life.

“The actual story behind his death is unknown, however those who were close to him said he was suppose to go and buy a cow with the money given to him by family” our mole said.

Moteme allegedly could not take it anymore and decided to take his own life.

King Dalindyebo beats Zuma’s bid to have him dethroned


President Jacob Zuma has been beaten in court after trying to withdraw a certificate of recognition from abaThembu king Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo.

Dalindyebo took Zuma to the Mthatha High Court to seek an urgent interdict barring the president from dethroning him.

The president wrote to Dalindyebo in July and gave him 30 days to explain why his certificate of recognition should not be withdrawn.

Taung woman bludgeoned to death by foreign boyfriend

Taung- A 26 year-old woman bludgeoned to death allegedly by her foreign boyfriend in Blakkies village,near Taung.

North West police said the monstrous event took place on Tuesday when police were called by nurses to Taung hospital.

“A woman aged 26 was allegedly admitted to a local hospital with several wounds. She was apparently stabbed by her foreign boyfriend who fled the crime scene afterwards” colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.

The woman succumbed to her injuries and police said a case of murder was launched and investigations continue.

The cause of this heinous behavior is unknown at this stage and the suspect is still at large.

Klerksdorp house ransacked by six suspects

Klerksdorp- Two suspects aged between 22 and 29 are expected to appear in Klerksdorp Magistrates Court for house robbery.   

Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said six suspects forcefully entered a house of a woman who was asleep with her children.

“The atrocity took place on Saturday and six men allegedly gained entry into the house through the door on Saturday at approximately 01:30 at Extension 3, Alabama” he said. 

The suspects allegedly armed with knives, demanded cash from the woman and ransacked the house. 

They allegedly took cash, DVD, grocery and cellphone before fleeing the scene on foot.

The matter was reported to the police and a manhunt launched and two suspects were arrested.

Investigation into the matter continues and police are expecting to arrest the remaining four suspects soon.

A woman died in Potchefstroom collision

Potchefstroom- Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after Isuzu bakkie rolled and a 33-year-old woman died on Friday at around 14:00 along N12 road near Potchefstroom. 

North West police said it appears that the driver was attempting to avoid falling boxes from another vehicle that was travelling to the same direction when she lost control of the vehicle. 

“She was certified dead on the scene while four other passengers were taken to hospital for medical treatment” colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said. 

Investigation into the matter continues.

Two suspects killed, one arrested for murder in N West

Leeudoringstad: A 24-year-old suspect was apprehended for murder, house robbery and kidnapping committed on Saturday at Droekraal farm, Leeudoringstad. 

“It is alleged that three suspects arrived at the farm at approximately 14:00 and found a male and female farm employees. The latter were then tied with ropes and locked inside the house. 

“It is further alleged that the suspects attacked and shot the farm owner upon arrival few minutes later” colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said. 

According to the information, the farm owner was then brimmed in the boot of his car which the suspects fled the scene with.     

The tied pair allegedly managed to untied themselves and pressed the panic button that alerted neighboring farmers.

One of the farmers managed to see the farmer’s vehicle leaving the place and a vehicle chase ensued.

“The confrontation of the suspects by two farmers ensued and that led to shots exchanged between the two group approximately 30 kilometres from the farm towards Makwassie” Mokgwabone said. 

Two suspects were allegedly shot and died on the scene while the third one was arrested. 

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the 24-year-old suspect was an accused in house robbery case back in 2012 of which two of his accomplices were sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment while he was acquitted.
