Kimberley man dies in hit-and-run

Kimberley- Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide following an incident whereby a pedestrian was fatally wounded in an accident that took place on Friday at about 19h20 in Barkly Road near Santa.

“It is alleged that a blue minibus bumped into a man who was trying to cross the road from the bush side into the side of Santa. Police and Medical personnel were called to the scene. The man was declared dead on the scene” lieutenant Donald Mdhluli said.
The driver of the minibus failed to stopped.

Mdhluli said the deceased is unknown at this stage and at the time of the accident the man was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with Pink stripes, as well as white long pants.

“The deceased was bare-footed during the accident. No arrests were made at this stage and police calls on anyone with information about the blue kombi with recent dents or anyone that was a passenger in the Kombi to contact Detective Warrant Office Dibebe on 081 326 6167 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Sms’s can also be sent to 32211” he said.

The police also call on anyone with information about the deceased to come forward. The investigation continues.-TDN
