Kimberley Cluster FCS Unit are investigating a case of attempted rape, after a 73 year-old woman was rescued by community members from being raped by an unknown man, says Northern Cape police.
The incident happened on Wednesday between 22:00 and 23:00 in Pluto Street, Ritchie.
“The victim was asleep when unknown man stormed into her shack. The suspect held the victim at a knife point and attempted to undress her, and in the process the victim screamed for help and the community came to her rescue” lieutenant Olebogeng Tawana said.
Tawana said however the suspect fled the scene before the community could apprehend him. “We are requesting the community members to share any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect with the police.”
