Johannesburg – A Lenasia man allegedly involved in a road rage attack in which a man was shot dead was arrested on Thursday, Gauteng police said.
“He was arrested after community members provided us with information,” said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.
He said the R50 000 reward offered for information on Koobendran Moodley’s whereabouts would be given once police identified exactly who provided the information.
Moodley, who was travelling in a Silver Nissan Navara on 6 July, allegedly shot and killed another motorist in a silver VW Polo and injured the passenger. The incident happened in Starling street in Lenasia South extension one.
He then fled the scene.
An eyewitness reportedly told The New Age that Moodley went to a tavern on the day, got into a fight with patrons, and was forced to leave.
He was then involved in a car accident, but did not stop to exchange details.
The driver of the car he crashed into followed him home where an argument ensued, during which the driver was shot dead and another injured.
Gauteng correctional services spokesperson Ofentse Morwane confirmed to the newspaper at the time that Moodley was out on R1 500 bail after being arrested for theft.
