A woman raped by “Pastor” after a visit

The Northern Cape police welcomes the rape sentencing which was passed on Thursday in the Postmasburg Regional Court.

Thulisani Nyathi,28, was sentenced to an effective seven years imprisonment after he raped a 35 year-old female at his home in Postmasburg on 19 February 2014.

“The victim visited the accused, who was known as Pastor, seeking for help as she was experiencing bodily pains. Nyathi asked the victim to lay on a mattress and placed his hands on a her abdominal area where she was experiencing the pain. He prayed for the victim and then undressed and raped her” lieutenant Sergio Kock said.

The victim reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested on the 10 March 2014.

The accused remained in custody until the finalisation of the case.

Hard and tireless work brought a water tight case to the Court of Law which ensured that no impunity was granted to the accused after committing this heinous crime.” Kock said.-TDN
