Kimberley-A reported missing boy Thabang Macqueena’s body found on Sunday at about 09:00 burned and dumped into a trench, in Phakedi Street, Galeshewe, near Kimberley.
“A 27-year-old father of the baby boy has been arrested and charged with murder. Our preliminary investigation indicates that a 1-year-old Thabang may possibly have been murdered on Thursday, and reporting him missing on Friday, 10 January 2014 was just a strategy to deceive the police investigation” liutenant Sergio Kock.
The arrest of the father resulted after Thabang’s mother hinted the police that the father had actually fabricated the story with regard to the report made about Thabang’s missing.
“Thabang was wrapped in a towel and burned not far away from their house in Phakedi Street. The body was in a state of decomposition, and it is the smell that attracted the inquisitiveness community people. The community contacted the police after the gruesome discovery” said Kock.
The father will appear before the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court Monday on a charge of murder.-TDN
