
Mbombela-It will be a deja vu when Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars meet on the Telkom Knockout “Ringa mo” final at the Mbombela Stadium on the 7th December.
This is after Orlando Pirates brushed off Supersport United and Platinum Stars beat Kaizer Chiefs on the the semi finals. Dikwena hammered Bucaneers on the final MTN 8 final in September.
Orlando Pirates was playing Supersport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium in the game which saw Supersport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams forced to leave the game on the first 25 minutes. Orlando Pirates defender Rooi Mahamutsa also did not finish the game. He picked an injury on the 72 minutes on what appears to be a shoulder dislocation after being brought down by Supersport United striker Mame Niang.
Injuries forced Pirates not to start with their key players, Kermit Erasmus and Dain Klate.
Mame Niang open a score board on the first 14 minute of the game with a header. After missing clear cut chances on the first half including one on one with the goalkeeper, Oupa Manyisa scored a briliant goal just few second after the second half. A game went to extra time. Andile Jali’s 110th minutes goal put game to bed for the Bucaneer.
On the second semi-final game that played at Soccer City, Platinum Stars walk past Kaizer Chiefs to reach their second cup final in two months.
The home side Kaizer Chiefs started like house on fire, taking coach’s instruction to paper. Dikwena goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane made vital saves on the first few minutes to deny the confident Amakhosi. The Glamour Boys asked all sorts of questions but Alan Freese boys answered them correctly.
The only goal of the game came from a corner on the 53rd minutes after Keagan Ritchie failed to clear the ball on the far pole.The goal was enough to put Dikwena through to the final.-TDN
