Klerksdorp-A 35 year-old suspect is expected to appear before Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25 on charges of Murder, House Breaking, Kidnapping and Theft of Motor vehicle belonging to mr M Mphahane (50).
North West police said on 13 November 2013,Thabo Molusi, who is a suspect and his co-accused, went to Mphahane’s place in Jouberton, broke into the house and forcefully drove-off with him in the car.
“It is alleged that the two suspects instructed Mphahane to give them his bank card and his pin number. The suspects drove with Mphahane to Coligny to withdraw cash and then proceeded to Klerksdorp where the second withdrawal of cash took place” sergeant Kelebogile Moiloa said.
Two suspects drove-off with the victim to Free State and stopped the car across the Vaal river.
“The victim was allegedly stabbed four times in his chest and then drove with him while he was in pain to Bothaville. Upon their arrival in Bothaville, the two suspects went out of the car leaving the victim inside the car and burned it” said Moiloa.
The victim burned to death at the scene.
The police conducted their investigation and on Friday, they arrested one suspect while the other one is still at large.
Molusi made his first appearance in court on Monday, 18 November 2013.
Allegations further states that the arrested suspect used to work for the victim doing renovations at his place.
The victim, Mphahane was a retired pensioner who used to work in prison.-TDN
