South Africa has come to know his face very well as he has taken the entertainment industry by storm.
Making it on the cover pages of most magazines and newspapers including an appearance on our television screens, being on radio too, we can proudly say Mike Maphoto turned entertainment industry into his oyster.
Mike Maphoto, the brain behind the most popular blog-storyline of The Diary of a Zulu girl.
The last time you read about him through this particular platform, Mike was in talks with different media houses to have a hard copy of “The Diary of a Zulu girl” printed out and the possibilities of it being turned into a series.
Well guess what, it was not cheap talk at all, it is very real.
With the auditions for The Diary of a Zulu girl underway running smoothly, it is expected that by September 2014 South Africa can get the glimpse at the very first episode of season one on their TV sets.
Through the blog Mike has already started on working on season 2 after the epic ending of the first season that ended with a brilliant cliffhanger.
The year following year seems like it is going to be a great year for Mike because by December 2014 the hardcopy of The Diary of a Zulu girl will be available as well.
“I find that the stories that I write are very relevant to the youth. For instance Thandeka (main character of The Diary of a Zulu girl) serves as an eye opener to both the youth and parents what being a first year student at university might be like or even challenges of being in a new big city one comes across” he outlines.
“The blog is a platform for learning and developing ways to avoid unnecessary situations that the youth may find themselves in” Mike giggles.
Just when you thought the fulltime lawyer could not have his plate full, he has something new to blog about, The Miss-steps of a Young Wife.
