Taung at the verge of receiving Prototype Centre (ECD)

Maquassi Hills- The residents of Kgakala village in Maquassi Hills are the second beneficiary of a multi-million early childhood development project to kick-start in the next financial year, North West MEC for Social Development Collen Maine announced at a sod-turning ceremony held in the area on Friday.

“In the next financial, we will in partnership with the National Development Agency build three prototype early childhood development centres worth R3 million.

They will have a large capacity to accommodate more that hundred children.

“Each centre will have classrooms, a kitchen, a sickroom and outdoor playing facilities,” Maine said.

More than 200 residents from Kgakala and the surrounding villages in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District braved the rainy and cold weather on Friday to witness the sod-turning ceremony of a much awaited centre for their children and to receive gifts from the authorities.

During ceremony Maine presented support material in the form of computers, printers, playing equipment and first aid kits to early childhood practitioners.

Maine is scheduled to conduct the third sod-turning ceremony for a prototype centre at Matsheng in Taung next week Friday.

“He will also conducted another sod-turning for an old age home in Pudumong village on the same day” departmental spokesperson Ben Bole said.-TDN
