Kaizer Chiefs are one of 40 teams that have already secured their place in next year’s CAF Champions League.

The tournament, which will be the 50th edition of competition, sees Africa’s best teams lock horns in order to crown the top team on the continent.

This season Orlando Pirates have done South Africa proud, reaching the semifinals of the tournament and they still stand a chance of making it through to the final.

Chiefs qualified for the 2014 competition by winning the 2012/13 Absa Premiership title and at present are one of 40 teams set to be involved.

Some of the teams also qualified to take part are Tunisian duo, CS Sfaxien and Esperance de Tunis, Congolese giants, TP Mazembe and Ghanaian club, Asante Kotoko.

At present there are another 28 places up for grabs in the competition, all of which should be filled by clubs from all over the continent in the coming months.

However, there will be an exception to the rule should Pirates go on to win the competition, with the Buccaneers being given the chance to defend their title even though they didn’t win the PSL.
