The MTN8 Final proved to be a double blow for Orlando Pirates as they not only lost the match, but also Patrick Phungwayo for a considerable length of time.

The Buccaneers lost the match 3-1 on penalties, with the defender having to be substituted five minute before half-time with a leg injury.

His replacement, Thabo Matlaba, scored the equaliser for Pirates, but in the end it was not enough.

And afterwards Phungwayo revealed on Twitter that his season was over.

“Hard lucky boys and its confirmed I’m out my season is over,” he wrote.
