Christiana-About eight people died when a bakkie collided head on collision with a microbus and burned beyond recognition along the N12, just about 31
kilometers from Crhistiana to Warrenton in the early hours of yesterday.
According to the North West Traffic Authorities at the scene,
three people were on the bakkie and five on the microbus. The number of deceased bodies was only counted through their heads.
“The other part of the road
was closed at the time when the fire emergency services were trying to control the fire of the two vehicles” MEC Nono Maloyi said.
Traffic Authorities suspects that fatigue and speeding might be the course of the accident.
“Police are doing forensic investigation to verify the number of men and women involved” he said.
Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison MEC Nono Maloyi conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the deceased families and requested motorists to obey with the road laws.
He further encouraged motorists to avoid driving with fatigue.-TDN
