Vereeniging – A Vereeniging pupil who is in Grade 9 is in police custody after he allegedly shot a teacher on Friday morning, reports say.

The Sasolburg High School teacher was apparently shot in the leg. The teacher is recovering at a nearby hospital, eNCA reported.

The teacher’s name is Johan Jordaan, tweeted Beeld photographer Cornel van Heerden.

The school has been closed and no pupils or teachers are on the premises.

The motive for the shooting was being investigated, eNCA said.
