Mahikeng-The National Development Plan is key to addressing skills development and unlocking economic opportunities that would empower young people to participate in the mainstream economy, North West Premier Thandi has asserted ahead of the Provincial 37
th June 16 Anniversary Celebration to held at the Mmabatho Stadium in Mahikeng on Saturday.
Premier Thandi Modise will deliver the keynote address to thousands of young people who are expected to be part of the provincial celebrations to be held under the theme: Working together for youth development and drug free South Africa.The programme for June Month 2013 was kick started last week Friday when a thousand youth volunteers participated in the cleaning and painting of Ikalafeng and Folang Disability centres as part of the Proud to Serve Youth Campaign to be launched in Kanana Township outside Klerksdorp.In appreciating the enthusiasm of the youth involved in the Proud to Serve Youth campaign led by the Youth Development Support in the Office of Premier and the National Youth Development Agency, Premier Thandi Modise has called the campaign it to be sustained as it affords youth with the opportunity to emulate patriotic and historic sacrifices of the 1976 youth generation.
The Campaign is aimed at promoting good citizenship and social cohesion amongst young people.The June Month programme to be unpacked by the Premier in her address is also aimed at acknowledging youth contribution in the transformation of South Africa, highlighting programmes for youth development in the province, educating youth about the history of the country and communicating government strategies on promoting youth development.Music artists to entertain youth at the event include MTN South African Music Awards Triple Award winner Khuli Chana, Professor, TUKS Sengaga, DJ Vetkoek and Mahoota, DJ Black Coffee and Stone Seate
