Political power seen as motivation for ‘Malema party’

Political analyst, Elvis Masoga says Julius Malema’s early rise to political power and priviledges may have motivated him to consider starting a new political party.

Malema has accused the African National Congress leadership of lacking ideological direction and says he’s consulting with others to see if there’s a need to form a new political party.

Malema says he will join others who call themselves “economic freedom fighters” to advocate a radical policy shift in favour of black South Africans.

Malema had earlier insisted that forming a political party was not an option. Masoga says Malema’s life has been that of a politician since a tender age.

“He is a young man exposed to power and political privileges at a very young age. He can’t survive outside politics. I knew it from then that definitely Malema would form a new political party in order to sustain the life that he was living, in order to get the benefits and privileges he used to get as when he was still a politician”, says Masoga.
