Wolmaransstad-A 25 year-old suspect sentenced to 25 years in prison at Wolmaransstad Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

The man was arrested after he raped a 13 year-old girl on the 20th of August 2011.

Police said a minor was walking alone in the street on her way home from her sister in tswelelang location.

“A girl was approached by a suspect and threaten her. He asked her to go home with him” captain Aafje Botma said.

This left the girl browbeaten and she tried to escape.

Captain Aafje Botma said the suspect chased after the minor and raped her.

“The girl ran home after a truculent attack. She came across a police vehicle and informed the police about the ordeal” police said.

The suspect was arrested on the 10th of September 2011.

He was sanctioned to 25 years in jail on Wednesday after his final appearance.
