Postmasburg-Seven people have been arrested for stealing R1.2m which was meant for community development in Tsantsabane, in the Northern Cape, the Hawks said on Friday.

Captain Paul Ramaloko said the seven were members of the board of the Tsantsabane Community Trust. Two of them worked for the Tsantsabane local municipality.

“An amount of R2.7m was deposited to the community trust account for development. The seven looted R1.2m of the money and split it among themselves,” he said.

They would appear in the Postmasburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
