A man stabbed to death in Klerksdorp

KLERKSDORP: A 30 year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 42 year-old victim on Thursday at Kgapamadi informal settlement near Klerksdorp. 

“It is alleged that both the suspect and the deceased had a fight which led to the suspect stabbing the deceased with a knife in a chest” captain Pelonomi Makau said.

The suspect will appear at Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday,on charges of murder.

Four in court for theft

Delareyville-North West police arrested four suspects in possession of three sheep carcass. 

“It is alleged that on Friday police acted on a tip-off that one suspect from Ottosdal was delivering stolen sheep to Delareyville” Pelonomi Makau said.  

Police acted swiftly and arrested suspects at their respective houses after recovering slaughtered sheep in their possession. 

They will appear at Delareyville Magistrate Court on Monday on charges of possession of suspected stolen stock.

Four suspects arrested for stealing a sheep

DELAREYVILLE-Police arrested four suspects after been accused of stealing a Merino sheep to the value of R1500 at about 16:45pm. 

“According to the information, a 29 year-old farmer from Doornbult farm in Delareyville allegedly realised on Thursday morning that his merino sheep was missing” police said.

“After checking it at the grazing field, he went to his employee’s residential place and looked through the window and allegedly saw his sheep already being slaughtered and hanging from the roof of the house” captain Pelonomi Makau said.

Police were summoned to the scene and suspects were arrested. 

Suspects will appear on Monday at Delareyville Magistrate’s Court on charges of theft.

North West man nabbed for rape

KOSTER-Police arrested a 36 year-old suspect for allegedly raping a 33 year-old woman on Friday, 26 April 2013 at about 02:30am.

“It is alleged that a woman was on her way home from a nearby tavern when she realised that someone is following her” captain Pelonomi Makau said. 

The incident took place at Bodigelo section near Koster. 

“The suspect allegedly hit a woman with a stone on her head and forced her to the nearby stadium where he raped her”

“The suspect then took the victim to his residential place where he rape continued” Makau said.  After the ordeal, the victim reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested said police. 

The suspect will appear tomorrow at Koster Magistrate’s Court on charge of rape.

Illicit cigarettes worth over R1m discovered at the Border

Kopfontein-North West police arrested a Namibian national after he was found in possession of illicit cigarettes worth R1 320 000 in Kopfontein Border.

A 41 year-old man was allegedly trying to smuggle fake cigarettes in the country.

“On Saturday police search a truck at Kopfontein Border and discovered illicit cigarettes worth more than a R1m hidden in a truck.” Captain Pelonomi Makau said.

Police search a truck and discover false compartment inside the trailor.

“A total of 243 master cases(boxes) of illicit cigarettes were discovered” Makau said.

According to police, a suspect has been arrested for the same offence last year December and he was on bail.

A 41 year-old man will appear before Lehurutshe Magistrate Court tomorrow.

Police said he will be charged with Contravention of Customs and Execise Act and Smuggling.

Man nabbed for rape

North West – A man has been arrested for allegedly raping and intimidating a girl in Zeerust, North West police said on Saturday.

 

The 31-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, said Captain Pelonomi Makau.

 

Police said 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped repeatedly while dating her relative.

 

She had told a neighbour about it and the neighbour alerted police. Makau said in one incident, the girl was at home with the man and a younger child.

 

“…The suspect chased the four-year-old out of the house. It is alleged that the suspect called the victim into his bedroom, undressed and raped her,” he said.

 

The man is due to appear in the Zeerust Magistrate’s Court on Monday. – Sapa

Pule’s DG locked out of her office

Communications director-general Rosey Sekese was forced to approach the court to lift her “special leave” after she was twice locked out of her office. Police were called in to evict her from the building.

 

However, after an out-of-court settlement with Communications Minister Dina Pule, she was allowed to return to work.

NW Acting Premier condemns rape of minor

North West Acting Premier Raymond Elisha has called on women to do more to protect girl children particularly orphans from the scourge of rape in their homes. This follows the arrest the arrest of a 31-year-old man for raping and intimidating a girl in Zeerust.

 

 

 

“Mothers should not safeguard their marriages and affairs at the expense of their children by turning a blind eye on rape of their children or those in their care because the signs are always there for them to notice and take the appropriate steps,” Acting Premier Elisha stressed in condemning the rape and applauding the arrest of the suspect.

 

 

 

Elisha commends the neighbour who alerted police about the latest rape incident which revealed that the heinous act had been happening for a while and called for no bail when he appear in the Zeerust Magistrates Court on Monday.

 

 

 

“When children confide in their neighbours and not their own mothers and or relatives, we need to be concerned and worried as to what has happened to the family as the nucleus of our society? Freedom will have no meaning if infants, girl children, the aged and women who are the majority in our communities are not safe from the scourge of rape in their own homes,” he added. 

 

  

 

According to police, the girl was repeatedly raped by the man while he was dating her relative.

 

 

 

Captain Pelonomi Makau of the North West Police said that it is alleged that in one incident, the girl was at home with the man and

 

  four -year-old

 

  whom the suspect chased out of the house before he called the victim to his bedroom where he undressed and raped her.

 

 

 

The suspect was arrested Thursday which happen to be the same day that the province launched the Ambassadors of Goodwill Project in support of the One million Signature Anti-Rape Campaign launched by Premier

 

  Thandi Modise.

 

 

 

 Whistles and peppersprays were distributed to elderly women in response to the Premier’s call for crime prevention structures such as Community Policing Forums, street committees and neighbourhood watch to look into providing elderly women who are staying on their own with whistles which they could blow to alert their neighbourhood of the threat of the scourge of rape and other crimes in their homes.
