The national Treasury has withdrawn a total of R77m that was due to the Madibeng municipality because it failed to spend its allocated funds.
Madibeng spokesperson Lebogang Tsogang said: “The national Treasury has indeed withheld an equitable share that was due to the municipality, and in November the municipality expected a tranche of R98m but only received R35m, R63m was withheld. Again in March the municipality expected R62m and only R48m was received, withholding R14m.”
