Two boys drown in Pudumoe, near Taung

Taung-North West police are investigating a case of inquest after two boys drown at Mirriam Roberts Dam in Pudumoe, near Taung.

According police, the incident took place on Friday at around 12:00 midday.

“Two brothers and their friend were playing at the open field next to maize meal farm. They chased birds until they reach Mirriam Roberts Dam” captain Aafje Botma.

Police said the boys continue throwing stones at the birds by the river when a 10 year-old boy slipped.

“His older brother who was 12 year-old tried rescue him, but unfortunately they both drown” police said.

Police Divers were called after their friend went to inform the elders about the gruesome event.

“Their bodies were retrieved and declared dead. Police investigation continues” Botma said.
