Kimberley-Police in the Northern Cape Province are looking for a rape suspect.
“On Friday at about 03:00 am a 30-year-old woman was walking home from a tavern in Greenpoint (Kimberley) when she was allegedly grabbed by a suspect from behind” lieutenant Donald Mdhluli said.
It is alleged that the suspect pointed her with a knife and took her to a nearby veld police said.
“The suspect inserted the knife on the ground so that he could take off his trouser. Whilst taking off his trouser, the victim grabbed the knife and stabbed the suspect in his thighs and next to his genitals” Mdluli said.
However, the suspect managed to get back his knife and stabbed the victim on her left hand, and eventually raped her.
After this barbaric act, it is alleged that the suspect took the victim to where she resides.
“This has made the matter worse as it appears that the suspect knows where the victim stays and it poses danger to the victim”.
“The victim has described the suspect as male person who is light in complexion and with middle height and middle body shape” police said. The suspect also has a moustache and wherever he is he would be in need of medical attention police said.
According to the victim, the suspect was wearing a faded blue jeans with cream “tekkies”.
She further alleges that he was wearing a red T-Shirt which had a double collar that was red and white.
The suspect speaks fluent Afrikaans.
“The SAPS is concerned about the plight of women and children in South Africa and calls on community members to join hands with us to address this challenge by providing us with information about the whereabouts of wanted suspects” Mdhluli said.
Police said by arresting this suspect will stop and prevent him to prey on other victims.
