Morgan Gould feeling bullish ahead of Saturday’s encounter

Recalled gangling defender, Morgan Gould has issued a timely warning to Central African Republic that they would dish out as much as they receive when the two sides meet in a crucial World Cup qualifying match at Cape Town stadium on Saturday evening.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 20h15.

Gould, who was over the moon about being back in the Bafana Bafana squad following an injury that saw him miss the AFCON 2013 tournament, said most teams take South African teams for granted especially on the physical aspect but if selected to start on Saturday, would show the visitors that he is as tough as nails.

“Most teams, when they come to play South Africa, believe we are very soft, but I thrive on the physical aspect, that is my game. I think the guys will need to enjoy the physical battle and try to run around them. We have to show them what we can do. I am definitely going to enjoy the match and the task assigned to me. I believe we have the squad that can overcome such challenges. It is a huge test but very feasible,” added the big defender.

“It is a very good feeling just being called up to the national team. Firstly for me, it is good to be playing football again after coming back from my career-threatening injury, and playing in the match on Saturday will be a bonus. It really feels very good to be back and I am looking forward to the game,” said Gould.

Gould said he has a feeling this Bafana squad is on the verge of achieving something special.

“After Saturday’s game, we still have two away matches in June against Ethiopia and CAR and I am confident by the end of the campaign, we will be sitting pretty at the top and with one foot on the plane to Brazil,” he added.

The Kaizer Chiefs central defender is expected to play a key role in keeping out the CAR forwards.

Meanwhile, Dino Ndlovu was the last Bafana player to arrive in Cape Town as coach Gordon Igesund now boasts a full complement of all 23 players to work with as the team prepares for the crucial encounter.

Siyanda Xulu, May Mahlangu and Mulomowandao Mathoho all arrived earlier in the day.

The new arrivals will join their compatriots in the evening training session at the Athlone Stadium, but will be without midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala who went for the scan for a niggling knee injury that prevented him from training with the team in the morning after feeling some discomfort during the warm-up.

South Africa is in third place with two points in Group A of the qualifiers following draws against Ethiopia and Botswana. Ethiopia is leading the group two points ahead of Bafana Bafana with CAR second with three points.
