More jobs in farming sector and poorer communities

Over 19 681 farming community beneficiaries in the North West Province were supported through a job creation plan for agriculture over the past financial year.

 

North West Premier Thandi Modise in her State of the Province Address delivered in Mahikeng on Friday reported that 1502 jobs were created in agriculture during implementation of 401 projects across the province.

 

Modise highlighted that 21 196 job opportunities were created through Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and 1732 through Home Based Care EPWP Programme.

 

Programmes to alleviate poverty benefitted 30233 beneficiaries received food parcels, school uniform, cooked meals and supplements while 35 Home Community Based Care centers and 25 Drop in centers were funded to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS to communities.
