Lichtenburg-A male cyclist died after allegedly being hit by a Mazda Bakkie driver who lost control of his vehicle at Putfontein Road in Lichtenburg North West police.
“The accident occurred today at about 07:15am. It is alleged that the 60-year-old cyclist was doing his morning excise when the incident happened” captain Amanda Funani.
“The 21-year-old driver was taken to hospital by police for blood alcohol testing. It is alleged that the 21-year-old driver was from a tavern when he hit the victim who died on the scene” captain Funani said.
Lichtenburg Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and the suspect was arrested. He is expected to appear before Lichtenburg Magistrate Court on Monday.
