Hunt slams ‘defensive Pirates’

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt says only one team went out to play football at the Orlando Stadium last night, and it wasn’t Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers won the match 1-0 courtesy of Oupa Manyisa’s early goal – a result which takes them back to the top of the standings – but then missed a penalty and a number of chances.

Hunt insists it was never a penalty, and also lamented Pirates’ defensive, counter-attacking style.

“I am very disappointed as we were the only ones who wanted to play; they were defensive and waited to catch us on the counter, even though they were playing at home,” he said after the match. “This is one of the reasons that our national team is struggling.”

On the penalty, Hunt adds: “They were awarded a penalty, but if it was a penalty then it should also have been a red card. So what does that say about a penalty?
