Kimberley-Police recovered a stolen white Ford Escort at about 00:15 in the early hours of Saturday Northern Cape police said.
The Kimberley police were on their way to Green- Point to attend to a complaint when they spotted a reckless and negligent driving white Ford Escort on the Barkly Road. “The driver of the Escort failed to stop on the stop signs and was driving on the public road without tail lights.” Lieutentant Olebogeng Tawana said.
“The police became suspicious and tried to pull the Ford off the road. However the driver refused to stop and sped off” Tawana said.
The chase ensued between the police and the suspects.
The suspects drove towards Douglas road at a high speed and took a turn off at Langeberg gravel road.
After realising that the police do not give up chasing after them they stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road and fled into dark veld, leaving a pair of shoes on the crime scene and the car engine running. “The vehicle was cornfirmed positive as stolen” He said.
The car was allegedly stolen in December last year at Jan-Cilliers Street.
Four suspects who were the occupants of the Ford Escort are still at large, any person who might have been seeing this white Ford Escort in the neighbourhood or anyway have the information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects can contact the Kimberley police on 053 8384 200 or 10 111.
