Zeerust police are investigating a case of murder and rape after they found the body of a 52-year-old female under the bridge at Koster Road North West police said.

“The half-naked and partially decomposed body of Jean Rantsie was discovered by a passerby who called the police yesterday afternoon, Friday  at about 17:27” Captain Amanda Funani said.

It is alleged that Rantsie was brutally assaulted and hit with a rock on her head. The deceased allegedly left her home at Quariefontein Farm on Wednesday and did not informed the family where she was going” She adds. 

Police suspect that the victim who was found only with her bra on had been raped before being killed by her unknown assailant/s.

The police are urging anyone with information  that could lead to the arrest of the suspect/s to contact them.
