BUTCHERY OWNER SHOT DURING BUSINESS ROBBERY

BRITS- The police are investigating a murder, two counts of attempted murder and business robbery cases following the death of a 65 year-old Gerald Rudolf North West police said.

Rudolf was running a business at Geluk near Brits.

“According to the information three armed robbers  brandishing firearms surprised the butchery owner whilst in their shop with his 31 year-old son and their a 32 year-old female employee last night at about 20:00” Colonel Lesego Metsi said.

“It is alleged that the deceased was busy preparing to close for business when the suspects entered the butchery and started demanding money. The suspects allegedly shot  and killed the owner, and his son was shot on both legs whilst the female employee was shot on the shoulder” He adds.

The owner was certified dead on the scene of crime and the two injured were taken to Brits hospital.

The suspects allegedly took a briefcase containing undisclosed amount of cash, 9mm pistol, bank cards and cheque books.

They allegedly got away with the deceased`s Toyota Corolla.

During preliminary investigations at the scene police  found the stolen car abandoned 2 km away from the scene and four people who were seen nearer were held for questioning and released after they could not be linked to the crime scene.

The reported stolen items were not found and the suspects are still at large.
