MARIKANA – North West authorities on Thursday arrested another man in connection with the murder of two policemen and a security guard at the Marikana Mine.

On Tuesday, four men were arrested after giving testimony at the Marikana Commission of Inquiry.

They were also charged with the murders.

The policemen were found hacked to death during the unprotected strike for higher wages.

Days later, 34 miners were gunned down during a confrontation with officers.

Police spokesperson Thulani Ngubane said the man was apprehended in the Wonderkop township.

“He was found to be in position of an illegal 9mm pistol.”

The inquiry, led by retired Judge Ian Farlam, was set up by President Jacob Zuma to probe the killings at the mine.
