The Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities is coordinating a week long programme for the UNAIDS High Level Taskforce for Women, Girls, Gender Equality and HIV for Eastern and Southern Africa who will be visiting South Africa from the 22 – 26 October 2012.
The visit will provide the High-Level Taskforce with the opportunity to be verify the South Africa country report that was submitted and be appraised on the country programmme in addressing issues of women and girls and HIV.
The High-Level Taskforce was established after an agreement reached at the Windhoek meeting on Women, Girls, Gender Equality and HIV. The, purpose of the Mission is to provide high level advocacy on teenage pregnancies; hate crimes against LGBTIs and the Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission (EMTCT).
