Rustenburg-On Friday between 12:00 and 13:00 the police have arrested two suspects aged 35 and 37.
The suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of a 41 year-old Daluvuyo Bongo the NUM branch secretary.
The arrest of the two suspects happened whilst they were on duty at Lonmin Mine in Marikana.
“The 35 year-old suspect was arrested at Rowland shaft No 4 while the 37 year-old was arrested at 4 Belt shaft” Brigadier Thulani Ngubane.
The two suspects are residents of Wonderkop informal settlement in Marikana.
The alleged murder incident happened on Friday last week in Marikana.
“It is alleged that the body was found lying in a pool of blood in a room at Wonderkop Hostel. It is further alleged that several shots were fired at the deceased and was to die” Ngubane said.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Zukiswa Mbombo welcomed the arrested and congratulated the team of detectives who are working around the clock on the Marikana Operation.
The provincial Commissioner further warned that the arrests have started and are continuing and urged everyone to co-operate and comply with the police’s investigation.
Lawlessness and criminality will not be tolerated.

The two suspected gunmen will appear before Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 October 2012 on charges of murder.
