MOTHIBISTAD: The dead will now have a peaceful rest, after three men find themselves behind bars for dealing in stolen tombstones from the grave yard.
Mothibistad grave yard has been invaded by the thugs for almost a year, whereby tombstones were being ripped from the graves. After a tip-off the police built up an investigative project, for the purpose of bringing the perpetrators to book.
The suspects were arrested on Thursday, 27 September 2012 at about 23:15 after a crime prevention operation. Tomb-stones to the value of more than R100 000, were found loaded in a truck, and were to be sold for R45 000.
“They appeared before Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 October 2012 on theft charges” Northern Cape police said.
