Tshabalala ready to offer Wits Students some “lessons”

Mbombela- Premier Soccer League trendsetter, Kaizer Chiefs are ready to continue with their sterling form tonight when they tackle Bidvest Wits for a leaugue encounter.

Chiefs are leading the pack with 10 points, two points adrift the second placed team.

Bafana international and Chiefs midfielder, Simphiwe Tshabalala has been outstanding for Soweto giants, even though sometimes had a bad day in the office like any individual.

This sometimes make his supporters and the whole soccer fanatics to be impatient and prelude in giving him flacks.

However Shabba says he is unfazed and ready to go.

Siphiwe Tshabalala believes that there are more goals to come after opening his account for the season in an emphatic 2-1 victory against Black Leopards on Wednesday. 

The Phiri born midfielder has been one of the top scoring midfielders in the gold and black in the past four seasons.

It is because of his goals and sometimes his creativity that has seen him walking away with Kaizer Chiefs Player of the Season in 2008/2009 and 2011/2012. 

“I am delighted to have scored my first goal of the season. Sometimes you wonder when the goal is going to come and I am glad it finally did” said Shabba with a smile. 

“I always aim to score more goals in a season but then again for me the teams success is more important than individual goals. I am happy to create or make a contribution as long as we get maximum points” He continues. 

Shabba dedicated the goal to her younger sister Nompumelelo, who was celebrating her birthday on Wednesday, She turned 14 and despite being younger has been a pillar of strength in the family.

“Last week was an important one for us as it was my late mum’s birthday on Friday (21 September). My mum was a massive fan of the Club” asserted Shabba. 

The Glamour Boys travel to Nelspruit to honour a meeting with Bidvest Wits.

“With the Leopards game out of the way. We are now focusing on Bidvest Wits. They have strengthened the team and will prove tough but then again if you want to win things you should be prepared to beat anyone. We are going to Nelspruit with a positive attitude” he said. 

Shabba watched the last game between the two sides at the same stadium on the stands as he was out with injury.

“We were unlucky to draw 1 all after Bernard Parker had given us an early lead. Kaizer Chiefs supporters had come in numbers and I am quite sure that it will be same on Monday” told Chiefs website. 

Kickoff for the game is at 18:00 at Mbombela Stadium.

Freight talks hit snag

Wage talks in the freight industry have deadlocked. This means road freight operations will come to a standstill today. Trade union, the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu) expects 80% of the sector’s 120 000 employees to down tools.

 

Unions have rejected an 8% wage hike. Prolonged strike action could affect petrol supplies across the country as well as the transportation of food because many of the union members are long-distance truck drivers.

 

Truck drivers have been threatening to go on strike after several months of failed salary negotiations with employers. Satawu has given notice of plans to strike from today, because of today’s public holiday the stay-away would not take effect until tomorrow, a spokesperson said.

 

“There is currently a recommended offer by the employers that we are considering, but we hope to check with our membership…. We are going to contact our members tomorrow morning,” the union’s Vincent Masoga told AFP. Masoga said truckers are seeking a 12% increase for 2013 and 2014.

 

He refused to say how much the employers’ association is offering, but local broadcaster Talk 702 put the figure at 8%. South Africa’s central bank has forecast that inflation will hold steady at around five percent through 2014.

 

The Road Freight Association of transport employers was not immediately available for comment. A strike could disrupt retail and fuel supply chains in the country, which was swept by violent strikes in its crucial mining sector in recent weeks. – Additional reporting by Sapa-AFP

More tenders for Friends of the Youth League (FYL)

ImageTwo men linked to the Friends of the Youth League (FYL) have allegedly benefited from multi-million rand contracts with the University of Limpopo, according to a report.

However, FYL spokesman Floyd Shivambu has rejected this as a “cheap and lousy claim”.

 

The university confirmed that in July last year, it awarded a R27.8 million tender for the conversion of a gymnasium into a laboratory to Collins Foromo, the Mail & Guardian reported.

 

Foromo was once a driver for expelled African National Congress Youth League president Julius Malema.

 

Foromo told the M&G he was invited to all FYL rallies, but he denied contributing to the organisation.

 

Questions have been raised about who funds the FYL, an organisation which was formed after Malema was expelled.

 

The university also awarded Mandla Seopela, one of the founders of the FYL, a three-year lease for dining facilities on campus, the M&G reported.

 

The newspaper was unable to establish the value of the deal.

 

The university confirmed that it awarded the tender to Seopela’s company, Bohlaleng Foods, in January last year.

 

Seopela has been quoted as a spokesman for the FYL, and works as a speech-writer for Limpopo premier and Malema ally Cassel Mathale, according to the report.

 

The newspaper reported that it had been told that the higher education department had questioned the awarding of the two university contracts, although the department denied this.

 

The M&G alleged that the FYL was using the university to fund its activities.

 

Shivambu denied this.

 

“This cheap and lousy claim is made because of comrade Mandla Seopela’s open and unashamed association with struggles of economic freedom fighters, which he said on various occasions is due to the fact that the leadership of the ANC Youth League… was treated unfairly and should be supported.”

 

Foromo and Seopela “have a right to be economically active and involve themselves in legitimate economic activities”, Shivambu said.

 

He called on the M&G to provide proof that university money was being used to fund FYL programmes.

Police arrested three suspects after business robbery in Morokweng

Morokweng- Police arrested three suspects on Friday for Business robbery in Morokweng.

“Allegedly three suspects aged between 17- 23 entered a shop of a Bangladesh citizen and held a Bangladesh citizen to ransom and stole udisclosed amount” Sergeant Moiloa said.

Police arrested three suspects after a tipp off.

The suspects allegedly pointed a knife at a 32 year old man and robbed in his cellphone.

Investigations continue. 

22 year old raped in Delareyville

The Delareyville police are investigating a case of Rape after a 22-year-old woman was raped by a 42-year-old suspect on Friday.

“It is alleged that the victim was on her way to town visiting her boyfriend when she met with the suspect who took her by force to a nearby tavern.  When they got  there the suspect bought the victim liquor to drink” Brigadier Ngubane said. 

After they were done drinking, the suspect took the victim to an unknown place, raped her and went back to the tavern with victim. 

On arrival at the tavern, the suspect locked the victim in the toilet and left with her cell phone. 

The victim cried for help and she was rescued by a woman who was at the tavern.

  The victim reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested. 

Investigation continues.

 

 

Police called to arrest pupils with no panties on

KwaZulu-Natal – Wearing no underwear is not against the law, police told a Mandeni headmaster after he called them in to deal with three female pupils caught without panties on.

It was just one of many humiliations faced by three friends from Mbuyiselo High School in Mandeni who claim the often sweaty 17km walk to school caused a rash on their nether regions. Their solution was to not wear panties.

But last week when the principal heard of this, he asked a female teacher to check under their skirts and then called the police. The incident prompted a visit to the school by education department officials this week.

 

The Grade 10 girls said pupils who heard about this started teasing them, saying they were asking to be raped, then told the headmaster, who called them into his office.

“My two friends were already in the office when I got there. The principal asked a female teacher to check if we were wearing underwear.

“The teacher then led us to a side room and lifted our skirts individually,” said the 16-year-old.

“She questioned why we weren’t wearing underwear. We told her it was for health reasons, explaining we walk a long distance to school and the panties cause a rash. She said we were lying, rude and disrespectful.”

When the girls returned to the principal’s office, the police were waiting for them.

What really cost a well-known boxer, Sauderes his life

Brits- Police are investigating a murder case and armed robbery after a well-known boxer, Carrie Sauderes was shot dead.

South Africans woke up to the shocking report which announced the death of one of the finest products in the boxing world that has ever represent the country.

Sauderes, 47 died in the early morning at Kalafong hospital in Tshwane after unsuccessful operation.

“A 47 year old boxer was shot in the stomach at a Guest House in Pretoria after four suspects entered the Lodge and demanded money” said Brigadier Thulani Ngubane.

It is alleged that one suspect pointed a firearm at Suaderes while others raided the plàce.

According to unconfirmed report, Sauderes tried to react and was shot.

Carrie Sauderes was celebrating his birthday nephew’s birthday with other family members when the robbery tooke place.

 “Carrie did not try anything heroic, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time” said an eye witness who squashed early reports.

It was reported that Sauderes tried to defend himself by attempting to wrestlé a gun from a suspect.

“Police are searching for four suspects who fled the scene with digital camera and handbag belonging to one of members” Brigadier Ngubane said.

Malema woes worsen as Sars pounced in

The list of possible legal problems for Julius Malema is growing, with reports that the SA Revenue Service (SARS) has already obtained a tax sentence against him for alleged non-payment of R16-million in taxes due.

 

Rapport newspaper quotes SARS spokesperson Adrian Lackay as saying they obtained the tax sentence after exhausting all possible avenues to secure payment. He told the newspaper the amount included unpaid taxes, penalties and interest.

 

The expelled ANC youth leader is also expected to face charges of fraud, corruption and money laundering, following a Hawks investigation. 

 

Trade union Solidarity earlier laid charges of incitement to violence against Malema, after he urged workers to make mines ‘ungovernable’.   

 

According the City Press, Malema did not oppose the application by SARS.

 

It is also reported SARS was about to seize Malema’s property and assets in Gauteng and Limpopo.

 

Alan Lewis, a tax law consultant and advocate, told City Press the judgment showed two things: Malema had a “hell of a lot of money” and he was in deep trouble.

Lewis, a former SARS employee, said the revenue service would most likely hand the judgment to a sheriff of the court, who would attach Malema’s properties and assets.

 

SARS started looking into Malema’s tax affairs last year after it was revealed that he was linked to companies which had obtained lucrative contracts from the Limpopo provincial government.

 

Millions of rands were channelled through Malema’s Ratanang Family Trust, according to the report.

Most youth prefer Motlanthe over Zuma

Johannesburg – A new survey has found most urban South Africans wanted Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe as their president rather than President Jacob Zuma, the Sunday Times reported.

 
The survey showed 39% of urban dwellers wanted Motlanthe as president versus 32% wanting Zuma to remain in the country’s top post, according to the newspaper.
 
The survey, conducted by research company TNS, stated Motlanthe’s approval rating was 51% versus 41% for Zuma among urban black people.
 
The majority of whites and coloureds preferred Motlanthe, while most Indians supported Zuma.
 
Zuma’s approval rating was 55% in February, 46% in mid-April and 51% in July.
 
The main decline in Zuma’s popularity took place in Soweto, Johannesburg, where his rating of 48% was the lowest since Zuma took office in 2009.
 
The survey was conducted in seven major metropolitan areas from among 2000 participants.

Moroka Swallows walloped Supersport United

Johannesburg- Moroka Swallows won the MTN Top 8 after walloping Supersport at Orlando stadium,near Soweto.

The game  started like a house on fire as both teams asked each other lots of questions. Supersport showed no respect to Swallows as they launched attack in the early minutes of the game.

Supersport midfield,Doutie became a thorn on Swallows flesh. He set on Franklin Cale in the opening minutes who made no mistake with and unleashed a long range with his first touch that left Graig Etafia sprawling on the ground.

“We missed so many opportunities and if you do not take your chances, you get punished. So credit to Swallows and welldone” said distraughted Supersport coach.

Even though Gavin Hunt did not say much,you could see disappointment written all over his face.

Swallows regrouped after Nergadze equalised for the Dube Birds when he hit a long range shot from deflected shot.

Supersport launched more attack while the game progress and was guided under a chattering eye of Moroka Swallows defence.

Both teams showcase the enterprising football and played with virgo.

Ashrif Hendricks received yellow card after bringing Doutie down just outside the 18 yards.

“We played as a team and we were very unfortunate to concede an early goal” said Zeca Marques.

The referee decisions came under spotlight when he denied Swallows what seems a penalty after Fransman blocked a ball in his penalty area,but waved “play on”.

Swallows came with gun blazing and were unlucky when Lerato “All you need is love” Chabangu shot was cleared off the goal line by Diouf.

Swallows second goal came after they bit an offside trap and Bennett Chanene chip the ball over buyoed Fernadez.

Swallows breathe a sigh of relief after the referee blew his whistle and make them 2012 MTN TOP 8 reigning champions after almost three decade without winning the elusive Top 8.
