North West – The North West department of health has transferred a R685 million conditional grant to districts, the department said on Thursday.

This was done to promote district-based planning, improve services and enhance local accountability, spokesman Tebogo Lekgethwane said.

He said chief directors in districts would manage the money.

The purpose of the grant from the national Treasury was to subsidise programmes against HIV/Aids, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Tuberculosis.

Lekgethwane said roadshows to orientate districts on the conditional grant had already started. – Sapa
