Durban – A pregnant woman, who was sent home from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital after being told the facility had no space for her to deliver her full-term baby, says her newborn died in utero.
Abigail Pillay, 28, said was thrilled when she received confirmation she was expecting her first child.
She said like any expectant mother, she thought of possible names, bought baby clothes, and was all set to welcome her bundle of joy into the world.
However, after not naturally experiencing labour on the scheduled date, Pillay was referred to the hospital from her local clinic with instructions that she was ready for induction – the process through which labour is forced.
