Taung, North West – The homes of two councillors and headman were burnt down in a service delivery protest in Taung on Friday, said North West police.
Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said about 20 people participated in the arson at 2pm.
They also burnt a tribal kraal in Manokwane Village.
He said there had been protests in Taung in the past two months. The protesters were demanding roads, electricity, houses and jobs.
Three people had been arrested so far with more arrests expected.
Ngubane said the three arrested would appear in the Taung Magistrate’s Court on Monday. – Sapa
