DELAREYVILLE: A 63-year-old farmer of Delareyville died in a fatal tractor accident.  The accident happened on Wednesday, 18 July 2012 at about 09:30 at a farm called Driekant. 

Apparently the farmer was with his 30-year-old son in a store house trying to hook up the plougher onto the tractor. 

The son was driving reversing the tractor when he noticed that his father was struggling to hook up the plougher. 

 “The son allegedly got off from the tractor in an attempt to assist his father whilst the tractor was still idling and on reverse gear. 

“The tractor then reversed and pressed the deceased against the plougher”Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said.

 The son jumped back onto the tractor to try and rescue his father but it was already too late,as his father fell to the ground and died instantly.

 Police and Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene and a 63-year-old farmer was certified dead at the scene. 

A case of Culpable Homicide is registered.  Post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.  No arrested was made and the docket will be taken to the Director of Public Prosecution for decision.  Investigation continues.
