DA challenges Sisulu on jet

Former defence minister Lindiwe Sisulu must produce proof that tender process to buy a new presidential jet was sound, the Democratic Alliance says.

“Sisulu should produce documentary evidence that the Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan, approved the deviation from normal competitive bidding processes,” DA MP David Maynier said.

Sisulu on Monday said she was “absolutely convinced” that the department had followed correct procurement processes regarding the R2bn Boeing 777-200 Long Range business jet.

Internet radio scandal aired

iol scitech july 3 darren scott

Cape Town – Internet radio stations 2oceansvibe and Ballz Visual have a fraction of the number of listeners they had claimed, according to two reports.

Rudolph Muller, editor at the MyBroadband website, published findings which showed that the two stations had about 200 to 300 listeners tuning in each hour.

This was a “far cry” from their claimed listenership, he wrote.

This follows last week’s release of an explosive report, The Truth Behind Streaming Internet Radio in South Africa, by IT specialist Shaun Dewberry, which called into question the number of listeners tuning into radio stations online.

Car allowance accusations ‘lies’ – Mmemezi

mmemezi

Gauteng local government and housing MEC Humphrey Mmemezi on Tuesday denied signing off on a R3600 car allowance for his daughter and five other employees.

Reports accusing him of doing so were “lies”, he told the SABC.

“When I was the HR (human relations) manager I was working under the supervision and authority of executive manager of corporate services, and above that was the chief financial officer,” he told the national broadcaster.

“So as a ordinary manager I didn’t really have any authority.”

Premier Soccer League CEO, Stan Mathews has resigned and this was confirmed today during Media Conference held today at the Premier Soccer League Headquaters.

Mathews is going back to Supersport. This was outlined by PSL and Orlando Pirates chairman, Dr Ivin ” Iron Duke” Khoza.

We would like to wish Mr Mathews all the best on his future endeavors and we were very privileged to have a person of his calibre. Cambridge Mokonyane will be an acting CEO until the post is filled in two to three weeks” He said.

Mathews also shared the same sentiments and appreciated the time given to him to act as a CEO of a local soccer body.

” I’m very to have had the opportunity to serve the league” He said.

Even though it is unclear what prompted the buoyed administrator to resign, the unconfirmed reports says the ironed-fist administration given out by the chairman might be the reason lead Mathews to resignation.

Mathews is the third CEO to resign and we will keep you posted as the truth unfolding.
