Street Kid Media Foundation together with Local Community radio station Mafikeng F.M have invited all artists and composers of music and audio visuals to register their music.
The campaignthemed “The Local Music Registration Campaign” includes a workshop on the music registration processwhich will be facilitated by personnel from different organisations such as The South African Music Registration Organisation (SAMRO) and The Association of Independent Record Companies (AIRCO).
The event which will be held at the Mega City Shopping Complex ‘s Food Court will go a long way in help local artists with information on how to register their music with the relevant bodies and the benefits of such registration. Artists are encouraged to bring along copies of their Identity Documents and copies of the music (in CD format) they wish to register, forms will be made available to everybody.
“The event is part of our North West Province Arts and Culture revival, this event will be take to all municipalities in the North West to get as many of our provincial artist to register their musical content and get it play listed on Radio Station”said Modise Ngwato Secretary of Street Kid Media Foundation. “ We must all invest in this golden economy so that the many artist and performers in NW can also benefit from Royalties that come with the production of music.
By doing this we enable Artist to sell and promote their music on their local radio station and create and environment were they can earn a leaving out of their talent and trade”.” We had engaged SAMRO with a workable solution to music registration and initiated the hosting of these workshops across the province. They agreed to come on board so we can address the backlog in the North West Province”added Ngwato.
“ We are pleased to be part of this initiative as this will increase the number of local content on rotation on the radio station.
