Former crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli will remain suspended pending a ruling by the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria. This is the ruling of the Labour Court in Johannesburg on an application brought by Mdluli’s lawyers to have his suspension overturned.

Judge Andre Van Niekerk reserved judgment in the case last week, saying he needed time to consider arguments from both sides. Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa had moved Mdluli to a different division, but the then-acting national police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi subsequently suspended him.
