Police in Beisiesvlei opened a case of inquest on Tuesday, 5 June 2012 at about 19:00 after a drowning incident. According to the family, they were all gathered around the living room watching television like any other day.

All the family kids were also there, including the mother of the ten month old baby, as well as her here grandmother and great grandmother.

It is alleged that after some time the family noticed that the baby was no longer playing around in the living room where everyone was.

It is further alleged that previously the mother of the child took a bath before joining every one everyone in the living room. When she finished bathing she simply moped the bathroom floor and left water on the bath basin.

When the mother looked for child, in other rooms inside the house.

“The ten month baby girl was found hanging with her feets on the bath basin with water the mother left. The child was rushed to the hospital with a private vehicle” Brigadier Ngubane said.

The baby at this time was quiet  with foam on her nose, on arrival at the hospital she was certified dead.
